Visiting Assistant Professor of Music (Music Theory) job with Colby College

Description

The Colby College Department of Music invites applications for a
Visiting Assistant Professor position in Music Theory for the
2025-2026 academic year (0.8 FTE position), with a possibility of
renewal for a second year (AY 2026-2027). The successful candidate
will join a small, collegial department and will have a teaching
load of four courses per academic year that will entail the
following:

Music Theory I; Music Theory II

An upper-level Music Theory course

An elective drawn from the candidate’s area(s) of
specialization

The courses should be engaging, broadly-appealing, and, for the
elective, suitable for both majors and non-majors.

Qualifications

The search committee is especially interested in candidates who,
through their research and teaching, will contribute to the
diversity and excellence of the campus community, particularly
those with a record of previous college teaching . Completed Ph.D.
or ABD in Music Theory or Composition preferred.
