Senior Assistant to the President and Assistant Vice President for External and Board Relations (SAP/AVP)
Wilson College, a private college rooted in the liberal arts and sciences and committed to student-centered education in Chambersburg, PA, invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for its inaugural senior assistant to the president and assistant vice president for external and board relations (SAP/AVP). This is an on-site leadership role; the anticipated start date is July 2025.
This senior leader will join the college at an exceptionally exciting moment in its history—Wilson has reached its highest total enrollment ever with 1,903 enrolled students in fall 2024, a 12 percent increase over fall 2023 and a 40 percent increase in two years. In the last five years, the college has created ten undergraduate majors and one graduate program and launched Wilson College Online, providing several of Wilson’s programs entirely online.
The SAP/AVP reports to President Wesley R. Fugate and supports the president and the Board of Trustees. This role serves as a strategic advisor to the president and assists him in project planning, prioritizing and implementation, presidential communications, community relations, and government relations. The SAP/AVP is a member of the cabinet and coordinates the activities of the senior leadership team. This senior leader serves as the secretary to the Board of Trustees, is an officer of the Corporation, and is the president’s liaison to the Board of Trustees.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience involving organizational skills, development and implementation of systems and procedures, personnel management, and handling important relationships with individuals outside the typical reporting chain are required; a master’s degree or higher is preferred. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience are encouraged to apply.
