PS Manager, Outpatient Clinic

Job Summary

This role, in conjunction with pediatric Neurosurgery attending physicians and the Department of Neurosurgery Administrative Director, is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the pediatric Neurosurgery outpatient clinic’s internal and external customer service, human resources, and financial management operations. Acts as a catalyst between departments, physicians, patients, and staff to ensure continuity and quality of service.

Responsibilities
1. Forecasts, develops and implements policies and procedures in the areas of customer service, human resources and budgetary goals and objectives that are consistent with University of Utah’s policies.
2. Markets and promotes new and existing programs and services to internal and external customers.
3. Participates in University-wide committees to establish customer service standards and administrative plans and policies.
4. Facilitates cooperative and collaborative community and institutional relationships.
5. Ensures customer satisfaction by analyzing complaints, concerns and suggestions and providing appropriate follow-through.
6. Develops division strategies consistent with the Department of Neurosurgery continuous quality improvement programs.
7. In collaboration with the Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery, assures staff competency by developing, presenting, and/or guiding staff to appropriate trainings that align with their roles.
8. Manages the credentialing of all providers/staff within the division at the University of Utah, Intermountain Health, and surrounding states as needed.
9. Establish rapport with personnel, attentively answer concerns, resolve issues promptly, and conduct continuous performance evaluations.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four to five years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of hiring department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department. Completion of provided supervisory training within one year of employment may be required.

Master’s degree in a related area may be preferred.

Work Schedule Summary: Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00; this position is located in Salt Lake City, Utah, at Primary Children’s Hospital. It is not a remote role. Occasional overtime may be required.
