POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Vice President of University Sponsorships & Partnerships develops, expands, and manages strategic business and corporate partnerships that enhance the university’s financial support, increase student enrollment in educational programs, and direct funding to research initiatives. This role focuses on securing sponsorships through direct donations, increasing undergraduate and graduate enrollment, promoting continuing education and certification programs, fostering internship/externship opportunities, and working on collaborative research and development projects.

The Assistant Vice President reports directly to the Vice President for Development and Alumni Engagement and can access institutional data and donor information. This position will actively partner with the leadership of the Department of Development & Alumni Engagement to identify opportunities. Leveraging this information and department expertise, priorities, goals, and objectives are developed with direct input from the Vice President of Enrollment and Marketing and guidance from senior administration and deans.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Campus Collaborations & Communications

  • Identify and cultivate relationships with campus departments and individuals with established corporate and business partnerships.
  • Identify gaps and opportunities for potential growth in current, new, and emerging markets – locally, regionally, and nationally.
  • Establish and lead a standing committee to develop and review protocols and processes to maximize revenue generation, reputation, and enrollment growth.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Track partnership outcomes and sponsorship contributions, reporting regularly to the President’s Cabinet and senior leadership.
  • Establish goals and objectives in collaboration with campus partners and identify key performance indicators in each area to assess the impact of partnerships on enrollment, student success, and research initiatives.

Sponsorship Acquisition

  • In coordination with Development & Alumni Engagement, design and execute sponsorship strategies to secure direct donations and financial contributions from corporate sponsors.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., Athletics, Community Engagement) to create sponsorship packages that provide value to partners while advancing the university’s priorities.
  • Negotiate terms, naming opportunities, and agreements to maximize the university’s and sponsors’ partnership value.

Enrollment Growth Support

  • Collaborate with the Enrollment and Marketing teams to promote undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs to corporate partners.
  • Develop joint initiatives with corporate partners to support employee education, including tuition reimbursement programs, custom learning pathways, and scholarship opportunities.

Partnership Development

  • Identify, cultivate, and secure new corporate and business partnerships that align with the university’s mission and strategic goals.
  • Leveraging a strong alumni and donor base, maintain and strengthen relationships with key alums and partners to ensure ongoing support and engagement.
  • Develop partnership proposals and presentations tailored to prospective sponsors’ interests and university needs.

Continuing Education & Certification Programs

  • Partner with the School of Professional Studies and Innovation and university academic leadership to design and promote certificate and continuing education programs that meet industry needs.
  • Establish partnerships that enhance workforce development and lifelong learning opportunities.

Internships, Externships, and Experiential Learning

  • Work with the Center for Career Success and academic departments to increase the availability of internships, externships, and co-op opportunities for students.
  • Facilitate connections between corporate partners and university talent pipelines to support employment outcomes.
  • Foster research partnerships by connecting faculty and researchers with industry partners to develop innovative solutions and advance knowledge.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Working with academic and community integration, serve as the primary liaison between the university and corporate partners, ensuring clear communication and mutual benefit.
  • Represent the university at industry events, conferences, and meetings to build awareness and attract new partners.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Higher Education Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in higher education, development, sales, or business development.
  • Proven track record of success in relationship management and profit growth.
  • Strong understanding of higher education, enrollment strategies, and continuing education programs.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to develop and deliver compelling partnership proposals and presentations.
  • Experience with data-driven decision-making and outcome reporting.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of regional and national corporate landscapes.
  • Experience working in a university or nonprofit environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and build consensus.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This position may require occasional travel to meet with partners and attend events.
  • Hybrid work options may be available, subject to university policies.
