The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences is seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to provide essential hands-on support for both teaching and research laboratories in chemistry, biochemistry and pharmaceutical science. This role is critical to the smooth and safe operation of lab environments, involving a wide range of responsibilities from ordering supplies and managing chemical inventories to preparing media and maintaining instrumentation. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring labs are well-organized, compliant with safety protocols, and fully equipped to support high-quality research and education.
NOTE: This position has an anticipated start date of August 2025
Key Responsibilities
- Ordering supplies and chemicals
- Manage chemical inventory
- Disposal of laboratory waste
- Preparation and sterilization of buffers and media
- Maintenance of equipment and instrumentation
- Assisting with research and teaching laboratory set-up and clean-up
- Manage organization and safety protocols of the pharmaceutical sciences research lab
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Strong organization skills
- Strong written and oral communication ability (English)
- Professionalism
- Ability to work with different people to meet specific goals
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in biochemistry or related field
- At least two years’ experience in a laboratory setting
- Experience in ordering chemicals and supplies
- Experience in inventory management
- Some experience in pharmaceutical lab
- Experience in maintenance of equipment and instrumentation
- Experience in laboratory safety organization and disposal of lab waste
- Knowledge on the use of computer software, including email, spreadsheets, presentation, instrumentation interfaces
