Organic Chemistry Lab Coordinator & Preparation

The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences is seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to provide essential hands-on support for both teaching and research laboratories in chemistry, biochemistry and pharmaceutical science. This role is critical to the smooth and safe operation of lab environments, involving a wide range of responsibilities from ordering supplies and managing chemical inventories to preparing media and maintaining instrumentation. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring labs are well-organized, compliant with safety protocols, and fully equipped to support high-quality research and education.

NOTE: This position has an anticipated start date of August 2025

Key Responsibilities

  • Ordering supplies and chemicals
  • Manage chemical inventory
  • Disposal of laboratory waste
  • Preparation and sterilization of buffers and media
  • Maintenance of equipment and instrumentation
  • Assisting with research and teaching laboratory set-up and clean-up
  • Manage organization and safety protocols of the pharmaceutical sciences research lab

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Strong organization skills
  • Strong written and oral communication ability (English)
  • Professionalism
  • Ability to work with different people to meet specific goals

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in biochemistry or related field
  • At least two years’ experience in a laboratory setting
  • Experience in ordering chemicals and supplies
  • Experience in inventory management
  • Some experience in pharmaceutical lab
  • Experience in maintenance of equipment and instrumentation
  • Experience in laboratory safety organization and disposal of lab waste
  • Knowledge on the use of computer software, including email, spreadsheets, presentation, instrumentation interfaces
