ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF BIOINFORMATICS
Indiana State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in the College of Arts and Sciences at the rank of Assistant Professor of Bioinformatics. The responsibilities of the position of Assistant Professor of Bioinformatics include the following: 1) Prepare and teach post-secondary introductory and upper level classroom courses in the theory and practice of Bioinformatics and other related introductory and upper level classroom courses within the Indiana State University College of Arts and Sciences – the Assistant Professor of Bioinformatics will be assigned to teach any of the following courses: BIO 485 – Introduction to Biometry (3 Credit Hours), BIO 487 – Bioinformatics (3 Credit Hours), BIO 498 – Capstone Research (1 Credit Hour), BIO 490 – Seminar in Life Sciences (1-2 Credit Hours), BIO 491 – Special Topics in Biology (1-4 Credit Hours), BIO 481/581 – Genome Science (3 Credit Hours), MATH 403/503 – Linear Algebra and Modeling for Data Science (3 Credit Hours), MATH 440/540 – Statistics for Data Science (3 Credit Hours), MATH 441/541 – Theory of Probability (3 Credit Hours), and MATH 442/542 – Mathematical Statistics (3 Credit Hours); 2) Evaluate and grade post-secondary students’ class work, assignments, examinations, and papers while maintaining student attendance records, grades, and other required records, as well as maintain regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students; 3) Lead and conduct graduate and undergraduate research and publication in regard to Bioinformatics scholarly subject-matters, as well as other interdisciplinary research and publication within the Indiana State University College of Arts and Sciences; and 4) Participate in Indiana State University College of Arts and Sciences governance by participating in faculty committee work and meetings, as well as providing input on matters relating to curriculum development and the learning environment.
The position of Assistant Professor of Bioinformatics requires a Doctorate Degree (Ph.D.) or All But Dissertation (ABD) in Evolutionary Biology, Bioinformatics, Biology, Mathematics, or a similarly related field (a Foreign Educational Equivalent is acceptable).
