Job Description:
Amherst College invites applications from graduating Amherst
College seniors or recent alumni for the Life Sciences Quantitative
Fellow position. The Life Sciences Quantitative Fellow is a
full-time, fixed-term position from July 2025 to June 2026,
starting at $19.72 per hour. Given Amherst’s history of drawing
students from around the country and the world, the successful
candidate will demonstrate the ways in which they value and can
work towards supporting students from many different
backgrounds.
The Life Sciences Q Fellow is a “green dean” position for a recent
Amherst College graduate who provides classroom and study support
for students in introductory sciences. The Life Sciences Q Fellow
works with team-based learning classes (most often Biology 191) in
the fall and spring semesters, attending classes, assisting with
the team-based learning components and offering drop-in help and
appointments for students in the class. During the summer, the
Fellow may assist with the Biology or Chemistry component of the
STEM track of the Summer Bridge program.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Attending classes and Team-Based Learning sections, keeping
records, meeting with faculty time on planning and
preparation - Weekly drop-in office hours or study sessions and individual
appointments - Q Center staff meetings, work with Q Center director on
planning and college training - Job development
- Involvement in campus life and events
Qualifications:
Required
- Requires a BA from Amherst College with a Life Sciences related
degree - Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal
skills - Facility with online communication and email
- Commitment to working with students from many
backgrounds - Good judgment working with students and faculty
- Successful completion of required reference and background
checks

- Tutoring experience at Amherst College
