Visiting Assistant Professor of Voice job with College of Music & Dramatic Arts

The Louisiana State University School of Music invites applications for a one-year position as Visiting Assistant Professor of Voice, beginning in Fall 2025. We seek artist-performers and teachers with a demonstrated ability to cultivate a dynamic studio of students in a collaborative, engaging, and inspiring academic environment. Candidates with all voice types are encouraged to apply.

Job Responsibilities:

    • Teach applied voice at all levels and in all degree programs; teach courses in the candidate’s area of expertise (for example, pedagogy, song literature, diction); advise and mentor graduate students

 

    • Build and maintain a national and international profile as performer and teacher and contribute broadly to the artistic and educational milieu of a major School of Music at a Research I, flagship university

 

    • Provide service and participate in faculty governance

 

Minimum Qualifications:

    • Education Level: A Doctorate in Vocal Performance

 

    • Degree Substitute: Equivalent professional experience

 

    • Specific Experience: Distinguished record as an active performer; demonstrated excellence in and commitment to teaching a broad range of students with diverse skill sets.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Specific Experience: Vocal pedagogy as a skill set evident in one’s background and training; Evidence of strong interpersonal and professional skills that foster relationship-building, creative problem-solving, and innovative opportunities.
