
Athletics Broadcast Production Specialist
Job Summary
The Athletics Broadcast Production Specialist is responsible for
producing, coordinating, directing, and participating in the
creative development and execution of live-game productions
covering a variety of sports. This includes assisting with the
training and support of contingent and temporary staff (including
student workers). Additionally, this position coordinates set-up,
usage and maintenance of related equipment, while collaborating
with leadership on budgeting and annual and long-term expenses. The
Athletics Broadcast Production Specialist acts as a supportive
contact for conference and institutional broadcast partners and
serves as a liaison to the ASUN’s Director of Broadcast
Services.
Job Description
Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
- Assists in supporting day-to-day operations within the
functional area, ensuring effective execution of tasks. - Serves as the broadcast producer for all Men’s and Women’s
Basketball games, all Volleyball games, and other broadcasts of
FGCU’s 15 Division I sports, as agreed upon with athletic
administration, coaches, and broadcast team. - Assists with scheduling, training and coordination of
contingent and temporary event staff (including student
workers). - Coordinates equipment setup, usage, troubleshooting, and
maintenance. - Creates and maintains video assets, still graphics, and
animations for video streaming. - Ensures accuracy and quality of streaming content. Collaborates
with vendors to update systems and/or software, and schedules
routine and preventative maintenance. - Supports broadcast partners and serves as a liaison with the
ASUN’s Director of Broadcast Services for broadcast and other
conference-based video initiatives. - Assists with ASUN Broadcast Services and Broadcast Advisory
Group (BAG). - Collaborates with supervisor and business office to achieve
financial and budgeting goals. - Assists in the development and implementation of new
initiatives, policies, and procedures to improve operations. - Ensures all regulations, policies, procedures, and safety
practices are followed. - Complies with all University and ASUN regulations, as well as
all NCAA rules and regulations. Remains current with all changes in
NCAA, as well as changes to University and ASUN rules and
regulations regarding intercollegiate athletics. This includes the
requirement for self-reporting any possible rule violations and
participation in the annual NCAA continuing education programs
including passing the NCAA certification test, if applicable. Any
violation of NCAA rules is prohibited and may result in
disciplinary action up to and including termination of
employment.
Other duties:
- Serves as unit equipment manager for live production
equipment. - Assists with special projects as assigned.

Additional Job Description
Required Qualifications:
- This position requires either five years of directly related
full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor’s degree
from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of
specialization and one year of full-time experience directly
related to the job functions. - Professional experience in a higher education athletics
department or comparable professional experience as indicated by
portfolio. - Advanced proficiency with relevant software including Adobe
Premiere; strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (After Effects,
Audition, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.). - Advanced proficiency with broadcast/streaming production
equipment and software. - Experience operating a personal computer and proficient in
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook). - Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience,
and/or certifications may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an
appropriate area of specialization. - 2 years full-time professional experience in a higher education
athletics department or comparable professional experience as
indicated by portfolio. - Experience with broadcast production implementation focused on
sports, preferably collegiate. - Experience managing and training students, preferably in a
collegiate setting. - Experience with video hardware and software applications, such
as: NewTek 3Play system, Ross video production equipment, Ross
XPression graphics system, vMix streaming system, Daktronics
videoboard systems, Nevco videoboard systems, video distribution
via ESPN+ protocols, and/or RTMP protocols (comparable systems will
be accepted).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of NCAA and ASUN Conference rules and regulations as
they pertain to the job duties. - Strong editing skills.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills,
and ability to work in a creative team and game day team
environments. - Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and
complete simultaneous projects with minimal supervision, under
strict timelines, and in live conditions. - Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative relationships
with constituents, fans, partners, colleagues, and the general
public. - Ability to provide guidance, support and motivation to team
members. - Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate and
perform work in various situations when numerous and complex
demands are involved. - Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations and
environments. - Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies and
procedures consistently. - Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
