Department Summary
The primary mission of the Office of Student Financial Aid and
Scholarships at the University of Oregon is to help students
achieve their educational goals by reducing financial barriers to
attend the University of Oregon. This mission is carried out in an
environment that places high priority on student-centered service
as well as meeting University enrollment goals. We provide
information about financial assistance and scholarships to a
diverse group of students and families, determine financial aid
eligibility and award program funds to applicants in accordance
with all applicable policies and rules, while advocating for
students regarding financial aid issues at the institutional,
State, and Federal levels.
Student Services and Enrollment Management’s mission is to build a

this role will work toward this mission in the following ways:
Understand UO values as represented in the IDEAL framework;
illustrate efforts at awareness and implementation with other
individuals in the workplace; act as an advocate to assure efforts
at best practices, including support of trainings and serving as a
resource for inquiries; act as a supporter to implement policy
and/or establish procedures or guidelines for their school/college
or VP area/Division; and act as a supporter to implement and/or
establish procedures or guidelines for the University.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Assistant Director for Advising, this
position is responsible for a variety of Financial Aid advising,
outreach, and administrative functions, as well as OSFAS Outreach
Program oversight and operations. This position requires the
ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and other
clients from a variety of backgrounds and cultures.
Counseling, supervision, and computer-based duties require the
incumbent to generally be in the office from 8am-5pm Monday-Friday.
Additional hours may be needed to accommodate university outreach,
or for attendance at training, workshops, and conferences.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of skills,
experience, and education - One year of experience in student financial aid, student
affairs, counseling, or related fields - Experience providing quality customer service
- Must not be in default on title IV loansProfessional Competencies
- Demonstrated understanding of issues facing diverse groups
(e.g. low-socioeconomic, first-generation, underrepresented
students of color, non-traditional, and under-prepared
individuals). - Effective communication skills.
- Demonstrated high-level organizational skills with the ability
to prioritize and multi-task effectively in a fast-paced,
detail-oriented, and time-sensitive environment. - Diligently attends to details and completes detail-oriented
tasks with a high degree of accuracy - Recognizes situations that warrant initiative and moves forward
without hesitation to resolve issues, problems, or
situations. - Ability to anticipate next steps and execute
independently. - Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite (or similar).
Ability to produce professional correspondence, documents, data
reports, and presentations. - Demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively
with diverse internal and external constituencies.Preferred Qualifications - Master’s degree.
- Experience in higher education and student financial
aid. - Spanish-English fluency, both verbally and in writing, with a
