Assistant Professor, Department of Agriculture
Job Description
Instruction (60%) : The successful candidate will teach a variety
of agricultural business, agricultural communication, agricultural
education and agricultural leadership courses both on campus and
online.
Scholarship (10%) : The successful candidate is expected to develop
a program of scholarly pursuit in his or her discipline area,
preferably focused on topics of regional agricultural
interest.
Service (30%) : The successful candidate is expected to participate
in appropriate department, college, university, community, and
professional service activities.
Minimum qualifications: A master’s degree in agriculture or
closely related discipline. The candidate must have strong
commitment to undergraduate education, possess strong communication
skills, and be able to work well with students and department
faculty and staff.
Preferred qualifications: A teaching background at the
college or university level and/or business experience in the
agriculture industry is highly desirable. Education or experience
in community related organizations such as 4H, FFA, extension
outreach is preferred.
Rank: Non-Tenure Track, Assistant Professor or
Instructor
Salary: Full-time, 9-month position. Competitive salary is
commensurate with qualifications and experience.

About the Department:
The Department of Agriculture has around 9 faculty and staff
positions serving about 380 undergraduate students and offers a
Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Business and a Bachelor
of Science degree in Agriculture. Students who select the
agriculture major pursue program options in agricultural education,
agricultural communication, agricultural leadership, agronomy,
animal science, and general agriculture. See the department’s home

Community of Hays
FHSU is located in Hays, a vibrant college town of approximately
20,000, located halfway between Kansas City and Denver on
Interstate 70. Hays is the regional center for education, health
