
Major/Essential Functions:

Required Qualifications:

- An earned doctorate in percussion performance or a closely related field is required before the position’s start date. Evidence of professional performance experience and professional activity and/or a research profile that demonstrates the ability to emerge as a leader in the field of percussion performance. Evidence of successful teaching of classical percussion (e.g., two and four-mallet keyboard, concert and rudimental snare drum, timpani, drumset).

- Evidence of successful teaching of a variety of percussion-related subjects, including graduate-level courses in percussion literature and percussion pedagogy, as well as chamber music, percussion ensembles, and other courses in music

- Ability to perform service duties including, but not limited to: moving and repairing of percussion equipment, maintaining a large percussion inventory, recruiting, curricular review and programmatic assessment, and committee membership.

- A record of collaborative work that demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively within and outside the university, regionally, nationally, and internationally.
Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:

- Successful teaching record as a faculty member at a college or university.

- Experience with coaching and teaching non-Western styles in one-on-one and chamber settings.

- Evidence of successful teaching of marching percussion/drumline.

- Ability to recruit and retain a percussion studio of undergraduate and graduate students.

- Excellent organization and communication skills, demonstrating an ability to help oversee a complex studio schedule.
