PURPOSE OF POSITION: Teach and lead introductory and
advanced agriculture or agriculture-related courses at the
undergraduate level and contribute to the department and
institution through research, scholarship, outreach, and academic
service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to a Reformed Biblical
perspective and the mission of Dordt University, along with the
ability to articulate how this Christian perspective shapes the
teaching and practice of agriculture. - Teach agriculture courses related to the candidate’s area of
expertise. - Advance the mission of Dordt University through contributions
to Reformational teaching and scholarship, student recruitment and
retention, campus and community service, Core program teaching, and
ongoing professional and program development. - Serve as a mentor and faculty advisor for students enrolled in
the agriculture program, assisting in course selection, project
mentoring, and internship opportunities. - Participate as a full team member in department and university
including curriculum development and review, program accreditation
and assessment, new initiative development, club advising, industry
outreach, and committee assignments. - Collaborate with Dordt University faculty and staff to promote
student learning across curricular and co-curricular areas. - Develop and implement a personal annual contribution and
professional development plan consistent with university and
departmental goals; use the plan as part of regular
self-assessment. - Collaborate with external agriculture partners and
organizations to ensure the agriculture programs deliver
appropriate goals and outcomes for student learning. - Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Express an active Christian commitment, which shall include
affiliation with a local, confessionally Reformed congregation that
actively supports the mission of Dordt University. - Personal endorsement of The Educational Task of Dordt
University and commitment to the curricular design set forth in
The Educational Framework of Dordt University. - A Ph.D. in agriculture is preferred; consideration will be
given to candidates with a master’s degree in agriculture (or an
agriculture-related field), or with an earned bachelor’s degree in
agriculture with at least five years of exceptional experience in
agriculture or agriculture education. - Expertise in areas such as plant science, agronomy, farm
management and operations, agribusiness, or animal science. - Agriculture experience in consulting, research, business, or
farm management is desirable. - A commitment to excellence in college-level teaching, including
curriculum design, classroom management, and ongoing student
learning assessment is required. - Ability to foster and develop industrial partnerships in
agriculture and agri-business. - Oral and written communication skills and interpersonal
abilities that enable effective collaboration with students,
faculty and staff, community members, and other professionals. - Prospective members of the Dordt University community are

Participating in the educational task of Dordt University is to
