Position Summary
The textile fiber recycling team in the Departments
of Chemistry
and Chemical
and Biological Engineering
at the University at
Buffalo invites applications for a Postdoctoral
Associate
position. The successful candidate will be
driving cutting-edge research into textile fiber recycling sorting
technologies using spectroscopic and hyperspectral methods coupled
to machine learning techniques and work with a multi-disciplinary
team of scientists. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • organize and implement research plans
  • develop methods or research that incorporate highly specialized
    training in a specific specialty
  • conduct tests procedures and engage in data collection
  • analyze, evaluate, and present findings in professional
    journals and at professional conferences and meetings

Minimum Qualifications

  • A PhD in Chemistry, Chemical engineering, Materials Science or
    related fields.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three or more years of hands-on experience in infrared
    spectroscopy of polymers, differential scanning calorimetry,
    electron microscopies, hyperspectral methods, and basic
    programming. Experience with Python programming and machine
    learning methods for data and image analysis is preferred but not
    required.
  • The successful candidate is preferred to be proficient in
    molecular-level infrared optical characterization, polymer
    chemistry and structural characterization of polymeric fibers.

Physical Demands

Salary Range
$48,000 – $52,000
