Department Information

Within this setting, the Fred and Dinah Gretsch School of Music
offers student-centered degree programs at the bachelor’s and
master’s level. Students are mentored by a faculty of dedicated
teacher-scholars, who are nationally and internationally known in
their fields of expertise. The new music industry program will
cater to students looking for a career in the evolving music
industry scene of the 21st century.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the school chair, the Lecturer in Music Industry/Music
Technology requires teaching music technology and music
industry-related classes and ensembles. The successful candidate
will also be responsible for maintaining and supervising the
recording studio, departmental computer lab, and sound
reinforcement needs for departmental concerts as well as other
duties as assigned. The position is 10 month, non-tenure track
appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with
qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications

Advanced Degree in music or a closely related field by August 1,
2025

Experience teaching applied music

Experience teaching music technology-related courses

Experience coaching a music ensemble

Experience performing professionally in a commercial setting

Ability to teach music industry related courses

Willingness to engage with institutional student success
initiatives.

Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in
instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and
development.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in music technology or closely related field

Experience teaching applied music in contemporary/commercial
styles

3 or more years of experience teaching music in a university
setting

Experience teaching music technology in a university setting

Experience directing a music ensemble with diverse instrumentation
in a university setting.

Demonstrated performance history in highly professional
settings

Experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Studio engineering
  • Live sound engineering
  • Digital Audio Workstations
