Position Summary:
The Writers Institute at Susquehanna University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Creative Writing, with a specialty in Fiction, to start in August 2025. This is a one-year appointment. Teaching responsibilities include several levels of fiction writing workshops, as well as introductory literature or genre surveys, in Susquehanna University’s undergraduate Creative Writing major. Candidates must possess either an MFA or a Ph.D. in Creative Writing. The successful candidate will have publications in nationally-reputable literary journals, excel as a teacher, and demonstrate an interest in building and maintaining literary community. Familiarity with liberal arts colleges preferred. The standard teaching load is 3/3.The Writers Institute at Susquehanna University hosts the Seavey Reading Series, publishes multiple undergraduate magazines, and offers a supportive collegial environment.
