Lecturer or Teaching Assistant Professor of Speech and Communication

Lander University invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the areas of Speech and Communication to begin on August 15, 2025. Salary is competitive and based upon relevant experience.
Eligible candidates must possess a master’s degree in Speech, Communication, or related field. Preference is given to candidates with experience teaching introductory face-to-face courses in Speech and Communication and who those who have worked in a center or lab that assists students in building oral presentation skills. Persons with a master’s degree would be appointed as Lecturer, while persons with a doctorate or terminal degree would be appointed as Teaching Assistant Professor. Either faculty rank is eligible for promotion.
Teaching load is 21 to 24 hrs. per year and will consist of introductory courses in Speech and Communication as well as courses in the candidate’s areas of specialization. Duties may include teaching at approved off-campus locations to reach dual enrollment students and any milage costs would be reimbursed. Service responsibilities would focus upon serving as director of the university’s Speaking Lab which seeks to mentor students in SPCH 101 and other courses that build oral presentation skills. Summer teaching opportunities are available and merit additional compensation.
The candidate should be committed to teaching excellence, work with a diverse student population, and collaborate with faculty and staff who work in areas such as the university’s writing lab, peer tutoring program, and student success initiatives.
