Clinical Faculty in Accounting

Status/Time Commitment: Full-time with faculty rank, term appointment, 9-10-11 month appointment

The Department of Business, within the School of Graduate and Professional Studies, offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in both online and on-campus formats, delivered through accelerated and traditional semester schedules.

This clinical faculty position is responsible for teaching accounting and related courses across traditional undergraduate, degree completion, and graduate programs. Courses may include Principles of Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, Managerial Accounting, and advanced electives such as Tax Accounting, Auditing, and Cost Accounting.

The position reports to the Department Chair and collaborates closely with program coordinators across all instructional levels to ensure academic consistency and student success.

Essential Functions

 

  • Teach Accounting and other related courses at the graduate and undergraduate level.
  • Communicate regularly with program faculty and adjuncts regarding program needs and direction
  • Remain current with new trends and developments in her/his field of expertise
  • Oversee course and accounting emphasis program development and delivery.
  • Mentor students in the business major and coordinate with academic advisors to support and engage students.
  • Respond to student, faculty and staff requests, needs, complaints, and/or grievances as needed in a timely manner
  • Organize/supervise co-curricular activities in accounting
  • Initiate relationships/partnerships with external organizations, agencies, and educational institutions to support student learning, engagement and recruitment.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Earned master’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Ability to mentor students in business programs.
  • Demonstrated success in accounting leadership and administration
  • Have a strong passion for teaching and coaching undergraduate students
  • Ability to work collegially with students, staff, faculty, and administrators
  • Ability to teach and work with people with diverse cultural, religious, political, and education perspectives
  • Strong relational, oral, and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve problems and barriers to organizational success
  • Commitment to the Christian faith and the University’s mission of Christ-centered teaching and learning and involvement in a local church

Preferred:

  • Successful Professional Accounting experience
  • CPA certification
  • Successful teaching or administration in a Christian higher education setting
  • Evidence of successful goal setting and achievement under minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with Fresno Pacific University and/or the areas where the regional campuses are located
  • College level teaching experience demonstrated by course evaluations

Environmental Conditions:

  • Work is primarily performed in a climate-controlled office and classroom environment.
  • Exposure to standard office and educational equipment (computers, projectors, whiteboards, etc.).
  • Occasional travel may be required for conferences, meetings, or off-site instruction.
  • Interaction with students, faculty, and staff in both in-person and virtual settings.
  • May occasionally work evenings or weekends for events, lectures, or university functions.
  • Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
  • Drive personal or University vehicles to appointments.
  • Public contact position requiring professional apparel, personal hygiene, and grooming.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods.
  • Frequent use of computers and other instructional technology requiring repetitive hand and wrist movements.
  • Occasionally moves boxes or materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.
  • May need to move between classrooms, offices, and other campus locations.

$68,640-$83,650 is the annual salary for this role and reflects what Fresno Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position.  Actual compensation may vary based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.  In addition to compensation, FPU offers a competitive benefits package.
