The Position:
We are seeking an exceptional Chief Compliance Officer who is passionate about education and has a proven track record of success to join our dynamic team. This individual will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining AHED’s systems, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with the requirements of AHED’s regulators, including accreditors, state agencies, and the U.S. Department of Education. The CCO will drive the efforts of the compliance team responsible for preparing applications to regulators; facilitating site visits; and managing the accurate and timely submission of institutional data to accrediting bodies. The ideal candidate will be a strategic, no-nonsense leader who is not afraid to challenge the status quo, implement necessary changes, and emphasize compliance practices across the organization. This is a remote position with required travel to our New Hope, PA office and to our campuses, as needed.
What You’ll Do:
- Leadership of Compliance Team: Lead, mentor, and oversee AHED’s compliance team, fostering a culture of accountability and adherence to compliance standards across all team members.\
- Compliance Systems Redesign: Lead the comprehensive review, redesign, and implementation of AHED’s compliance systems, policies, and procedures to ensure they are robust, effective, and aligned with current regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Accreditation Compliance: Oversee all aspects of accreditation-related activities, including the collection, analysis, and submission of institutional and student outcomes data, including graduation and employment rates; managing the preparation and submission of applications for accreditation renewals, ensuring all required documents and reporting are accurately and thoroughly prepared; and facilitating accreditation site visits.
- Regulatory Compliance: Manage and improve the internal framework for ensuring AHED remains in compliance with all federal, state, and local education regulations, including those related to anti-discrimination, student privacy, financial aid, and student health and safety, among others.
- Risk Management: Identify and assess potential areas of compliance risk, develop and implement strategies to mitigate those risks, and recommend improvements in practices and processes.
- Policy Development & Implementation: Develop, implement, and regularly update institutional policies and procedures to ensure continued compliance with applicable laws, standards, and best practices.
- Training & Education: Develop and deliver compliance training programs for AHED staff, faculty, and leadership to foster understanding of compliance obligations and to ensure institution-wide awareness and adherence.
- Reporting & Monitoring: Provide regular reports to senior leadership on the status of compliance activities, risks, and areas requiring improvement.
- Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Advanced degree in a related field (e.g., law, higher education administration, public policy, or business administration) is preferred; Bachelor’s degree is required.
- A minimum of [10 years] of progressive experience in a compliance leadership role within a higher education environment, preferably at a senior level is required.
- In-depth knowledge of accreditation standards, federal and state regulations, and best practices for compliance in higher education is required.
- Proven track record in leading and managing compliance teams, with a focus on driving results and fostering a culture of continuous improvement is required.
- Must have strong ability to analyze complex regulatory requirements and translate them into actionable policies and procedures and achieving measurable results.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple competing priorities is required.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills is required with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Must have strong problem-solving skills with a no-nonsense, results-oriented approach to addressing compliance challenges.
- Travel is required to New Hope, PA and as needed to college campuses.

The CCO must have the confidence to challenge existing systems, advocate for necessary improvements, and drive AHED’s commitment to compliance forward.
