Position Title: Assistant Professor or Associate Professor of Computer Science
Employment Type: Full Time, Faculty, Exempt
Reports To: The Assistant/ Associate Professor of Computer Science will report to the Chair of the Computer Science Department
Assistant or Associate Professor position in computer science: develop and teach multiple computer science courses, conduct research, and provide service to multiple entities within the university, community and profession. Courses mainly include cybersecurity and data science, with additional interest in core courses such as computer architecture, assembly language, and programming languages. Tenure track faculty may teach day, evening, undergraduate, graduate and online classes.
Essential Job Functions
- Teach undergraduate computer science courses and graduate computer and information system (MSCIS) courses as assigned by the department; maximum 12 credits (contact hours) per semester.
- Teaching courses mainly in the areas of cybersecurity and data science. Other areas of teaching interest include assembly language programming and computer architecture. Experience in programming languages is expected.
- Prepare classes, syllabi, and coursework; develop new classes; provide instruction during class time; help students outside of class; provide feedback to students; provide student grades.
- Student mentoring; serving on department committees; assisting with department events; potentially contributing to community projects.
- Perform scholarly work; publish in conferences and journals; perform
Qualifications
- PhD degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering or similar area
- Teaching experience
- Active scholarship with research publications related to computer science within the last five years
Computer Science is a signature program at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. We also offer certificates in Cyber Security, Data Science, Mobile Development, Linux System Administration, and World Wide Web Publishing, as well as Master’s degrees in Computer and Information Systems, Cybersecurity, and IT Management.
