Job Summary/Basic Function

POSITION SUMMARY

Central State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Engineering and Technology at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Control and Systems Engineering starting in the Fall 2025.

DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Teach controls engineering courses such as Electric/Electronic Circuits, Automatic Control, Programmable Logic Controllers, Measurements and Instrumentation, Robotics and Automation in the Manufacturing Engineering and Industrial Technology programs.
•Maintain office hours and advise assigned students.
•Assist in curriculum development, review, and textbook selection.
•Lead or contribute to the Manufacturing Engineering program ABET ( EAC ) reaccreditation and the Industrial Technology program ABET ( ETAC ) accreditation process.
•Contribute to the development of graduate and certificate programs in the DoET.
•Create workforce development workshops and training programs.
•Pursue and obtain extramural funding for research, teaching, and service initiatives.
•Conduct and publish research in peer-reviewed journals.
•Maintain an active research program, partially funded externally.
•Involve undergraduate students in research and preparation for graduate study or engineering careers.
•Participate in professional development activities.
•Engage in coordinated research and collaborations with national and international institutions.
•Serve on departmental, college, and university committees and other service activities to support the university’s mission.
•Contribute engineering expertise and service to community projects and professional organizations.
•Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

•Ph. D. in Electrical Electronic Engineering, Controls Engineering, Systems Engineering,Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related field.
•Minimum 1-3 years teaching experience at the university level or postdoctoral research experience
•Strong evidence of scholarship and research, particularly scholarly publications in the area including control and systems engineering.

•Generate grant proposals for research, teaching, and services, with an interdisciplinary research orientation.
•Ensure excellence in curriculum delivery, development, and improvement.
•Teach students from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
•Utilize technology in instruction and student advising.
•Understand and commit to the role of a comprehensive college in a multicultural setting.
•Exhibit qualities of character, personality, and competence expected in a teacher and student director.
•Engage with recognized professional associations or organizations.
