Salary Range: Up to $45,000 annualized, commensurate with education, experience, qualifications and level hired.

Essential Functions
Job Summary
To provide journeyman level skills in the repair, replacement and maintenance of locks, hardware, and access systems. Responsible for installing, repairing, maintaining and inspecting physical and technical security equipment and systems.
Core Responsibilities – All Levels
- Inspects, installs, adjusts, repairs and maintains door locks and supporting systems; rekeys locks; duplicates and generates original keys by code
- Assists in the installation, maintenance and repair of all security systems specifically including access control systems, alarm systems, emergency intercom systems, panic alarms, CCTV security video cameras and recording systems, and security systems data communications equipment.
- Combinates conventional and interchangeable core lock cylinders.
- Performs routine preventative maintenance on all security systems.
- Assist the lead in the management and maintenance of the structure of the electronic access control and door alarm systems.
- Provides maintenance advice to faculty and staff.
- Researches and recommends equipment for upgrades or replacement.
- Assists in university wide key and electronic access inventories. Ensures correct access levels are issued.
- Promotes safety and environmental protection by immediately reporting unsafe situations, spills and accidents; following University safety plans/procedures/protocols; and participating in appropriate safety training.
Level II Only
- Provides guidance and training to lower-level coworkers; acts as a supervisor for project and assignments
- Troubleshoots problems and recommends and implements solutions.
- Responsible for supervising and performing activities related to installing, repairing, maintaining and inspecting physical and technical security equipment and systems.
Required Qualifications
Level I
- High school Diploma or GED.
- Two (2) years of skilled journeyman level experience as a locksmith OR two (2) years of experience working with security/access control system.
- Additional education may substitute for experience on a one for one basis.
Level II
- High school Diploma or GED.
- Three (3) years of skilled journeyman to master level experience as a locksmith including a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience.
All Levels
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UTSA and its infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
Level I
- Technical training as a locksmith or in commercial security systems.
Level II
- Certification or training through a recognized locksmith school or association.
- Five (5) years of journeyman to master level locksmith experience and experience with electronic access/security systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Locknetic, Locklink and DSX software.

Physical Demands:
- Sedentary: Up to 10lbs – Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Physical ability to sit, walk, kneel, bend, crawl and climb.
This position will be primarily located on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee’s responsibility.
