About The Assistant Dean of Faculty Affairs
Assistant Dean of Faculty Academic Affairs will report to the Associate Dean and work in close collaboration with Associate Director to grow faculty development offerings and engagement and support Dell Med faculty appointment and promotion activities.
Works with Assoc Director and Faculty Affairs Manager to maintain, develop, and expand faculty development programs. The Assistant Dean will lead strategic planning and execution of faculty development programming. The Assistant Dean will support the Associate Director and Faculty Affairs Manager in operationalizing award coordination and nomination submissions locally and nationally, growing engagement in development opportunities amongst Dell Med faculty, outreach to program facilitators and external speakers, facilitating professional development programs and sessions, conceptualizing and actualizing new professional development opportunities with the associate director, assist the OFAA team in expanding support and augmentations to faculty annual evaluations process and training opportunities. The Assistant Dean will also lead the design and implementation of Professional-Track faculty offerings in partnership with the associate director and faculty affairs manager.
Supports Professional-Track Faculty promotion review process in collaboration with the Associate Dean for Faculty Academic Affairs. Responsibilities will be largely conducted in collaboration with the Associate Dean in the initial stages with the expectation that tasks will be completed more independently with time. Duties will include: delivering informational sessions for Professional- Track faculty, chairing Professional-Track Appointment, Promotion, and Tenure (APT) Committee meetings, drafting Professional-Track Dean’s statements, drafting and reviewing Professional-Track promotion dossier statements for submission to the Executive Vice President and Provost as well as the President’s Office.

Qualifications
Required:
- MD/DO. Consideration of PhD or equivalent with significant faculty development experience.
- Track record of supporting faculty success through development of faculty development programming, mentorship, or other activities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience in faculty or academic affairs.
- Faculty members maintain a professional-track appointment at the associate professor level or higher.
- A proven track record of mission-driven strategic planning, demonstrated by measurable outcomes.
- Previous experience supporting faculty navigating faculty promotion, evaluation, and appointment processes.
