Full-time position in Writing and Rhetoric

The Madrid (Spain) Campus of Saint Louis University — a Jesuit Catholic institution dedicated to student learning, research, service and healthcare — invites applications for a full-time Professor of Writing and Rhetoric to begin teaching on Sept. 1st, 2025. The candidate will oversee and teach in the Writing and Rhetoric Program, a program that provides introductory and subject-specific writing classes for the entire SLU Madrid undergraduate community. The candidate will also serve as the academic coordinator and professional point of contact for SLU Madrid’s “Center for Eloquentia Perfecta,” a writing advice center run for students, by students. Other duties will include serving on SLU-wide curriculum committees and engaging in a variety of forms of service to the institution and the university.

 

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Rhetoric, English Literature, or Comparative Literature, and will also have experience teaching writing and rhetoric across the undergraduate curriculum. They will also have a strong track record of research in their preferred area and be willing to contribute to the research agenda of the English department at SLU Madrid.
