Job Summary:
Part-Time educator with a passion for teaching and content expertise in Art History. Beyond the required education and experience, instructors must have a passion for what they teach and have teaching styles that support student success. Instructors are responsible for following Division and College procedures in support of teaching and learning.
Required Qualifications:

- Master’s degree or a minimum of 27 graduate hours in Art, Art History, or a closely related field
- The ability to communicate effectively as a teacher and to operate as an effective member of a team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching Art History and/or Art Appreciation at a community college or other higher education institution for at least one (1) year is preferred
- Proficiency in Indigenous Art of the Americas and/or Global Art is preferred
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Requires the ability to work with staff and students. Work is performed in an office or classroom setting with minimal exposure to safety or health hazards.
Essential Duties:
- Plan, develop and present organized learning opportunities for students in accordance with approved course outlines on topics relating to Art History and Visual Studies
- Provide high-quality classroom instruction
- Create course content, develop and revise course content and materials
- Assess learning outcomes using appropriate assessment tools, and use assessment results to inform improvements at a program and course level
- Teach and develop all class syllabi and course materials, in a form that can be directly delivered to, and used by, students
- Deliver curriculum to students in traditional and online formats
- Maintain competency and currency in the subject matter of courses taught and in teaching skills
- Maintain an appropriate knowledge and utilization of professional and teaching technology
- Participate as a member of the Visual Arts department and promote a spirit of collegiality both within the department and College community

Salary and Compensation Information:
Courses are paid on a per-credit basis. New Part-time Faculty begin at Step 1 of the payscale, with steps being “rolled” once per term.
- Table 1 illustrates the cost per credit for each step on the pay scale. Table 2 illustrates the compensation per hour for meetings, trainings, advising, curriculum development, or other related work.
- Community Education and Non-Credit classes use a separate salary schedule.
As a condition of employment, all new employees are required to be compensated via direct deposit.
Offers of employment are contingent on the applicant having Oregon residency at the time work commences, as well as the successful completion of a background check if required for the position.
