- Are you a dynamic and innovative library professional looking to make a real impact? Marshall University is seeking a passionate and skilled Collection Manager/Acquisitions Librarian to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development and management of our diverse library collections, playing a key role in supporting the university’s academic mission.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide leadership in all aspects of collection development for both print and digital resources.
- Contribute innovative ideas and make strategic decisions based on academic program needs.
- Investigate emerging trends in collection initiatives and incorporate them into the libraries’ framework.
- Recommend and order materials, using reviews and research to make informed decisions.
- Coordinate trials for new electronic resources in collaboration with other library staff.
- Work closely with the University Libraries Business Manager on budget management.
- Contribute to accreditation/program review and statistical reports.
- Serve as a contact for vendors and publishers, establishing and maintaining relationships.
- Coordinate the management of gift materials.
- Oversee the organization and weeding of the collection.
- Participate in campus and university committees.
What You’ll Bring:
- A Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited library school.
- 2-5 years of full-time professional experience in collection development/acquisitions within an academic library. Demonstrated experience with integrated library systems and electronic resource management. A strong commitment to public and customer service. The ability to work both collaboratively and independently. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Good information literacy and information technology skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A second Master’s degree. Experience working with major library vendors and publishers. Experience with the accreditation process for academic programs and institutions. Experience with Innovative Interfaces Sierra or similar systems. 2 or more years of supervisory experience.

Additional Details:
- This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary range of $50,600-$58,100. The position reports to the Assistant Dean of Libraries. Work location is main campus, Huntington, WV, Marshall University.
